Progetto CU Remember
CU Remember
Children's Universities, Open Schooling, and the Formation of Local MemoriaLinks for European Remembrance - Project financed by European Commission.
https://eucu.net/projects/curemember
Almost 80 years after the end of World War II, we are currently witnessing the disappearance of contemporary witnesses and the strengthening of extremist movements. To complement traditional forms of remembrance culture, CU REMEMBER is developing innovative educational approaches. In Vienna and Trieste, MemoriaLinks are being created, connecting remembrance work with modern educational formats and bringing together formal and non-formal education.
The project combines remembrance culture with three educational approaches:
- Open Schooling: A model for cross-sector collaboration with a focus on the common good.
- Children's Universities: Low-threshold and inclusive science communication and participation in research and higher education
- Children's Universities: Low-threshold and inclusive science communication and participation in research and higher education
CU REMEMBER promotes close cooperation between schools, universities, museums, and other educational institutions. New methods of Holocaust education are promoted through workshops, conferences, and digital media. These include:
- MemoriaLinks Workshops: Workshops for children and young people to explore various formats of remembrance culture, implemented in Vienna and Trieste as models for other European regions.
- Catalyst Workshops: Training programs for teachers to integrate remembrance culture into primary and secondary school curricula
- Ambassador & Awareness Programs: Workshops, webinars, and conferences for young people, researchers, educators, and other stakeholders to introduce new didactic concepts and raise awareness of remembrance culture.
The project aims to sensitize young people to a nuanced engagement with the past and to strengthen democratic values. In the long term, it strives to establish new forms of remembrance culture and equips educational institutions with innovative methods.
CU REMEMBER connects science, education, and society to understand remembrance as a dynamic process that links past and future and makes a sustainable contribution to strengthening democratic principles.
